Brandy Cocktails

About brandy
The term brandy means an alcoholic spirit distilled from grape wine or Marc, the residue of the grape press.

Since the fermented juice of apples, cherries, peaches, and other fruits can also be distilled, brandies made from such fruits must be refereed to by the name i.e. cherry brandy apple brandy etc.

Brandy is left to age in oak barrels which give it colour. Caramel is added to give it additional colour when bottled.

Applejack old fashioned

1½ fluid oz applejack

1 lump sugar

2 dashes Angostura bitters

Dash of soda water

1-2 ice cubes

Twist of lemon peel

Muddle sugar in a little soda water until dissolved add 2 dashes of angostura and a good sized ice cube pour in applejack stir.

Decorate with a twist of lemon peel. Serve with stirring rod.

Apple car cocktail

2 fluid oz applejack

1 fluid oz Cointreau

Juice ½ lemon

2-3 cracked ice cubes

Put ice into shake add rest of ingredients shake to mix pour into glass and serve

Brandy daisy

1½ fluid oz brandy

1 teaspoon lemon juice

2 teaspoons grenadine

3 ice cubes cracked

Soda water

Put ice cubes into cocktail shaker. Add the brandy, lemon juice, and grenadine. Shake to mix strain into glass. Top up with soda decorate with cherries, and serve

Brandy fix

1 teaspoon powdered sugar

1 teaspoon water

1 ½ fluid oz brandy

¾ oz cherry brandy

Juice ½ lemon

Crushed ice

Lemon slice

Dissolve sugar in the water in glass. Add the brandy, cherry brandy and lemon juice. Stir to mix top up with ice, float lemon slice on top serve with straw

Brandy smash

4 sprigs mint

1 teaspoon powdered sugar

2 ice cubes cracked

1 ½ fluid oz brandy

Soda water

Crush the mint and sugar in glass. Rub mints around the sides of glass discard the mint. Add ice cubes, brandy and a splash of soda serve

Bacchus

4 ice cubes cracked

3 fluid oz brandy

1 ½ fluid oz apricot brandy

1 ½ fluid oz unsweetened lime juice

Slice of lime

Put half the ice into shaker and add the brandy apricot brandy and lime juice shake to mix

Put the remaining ice into glass pour over cocktail, and decorate with slice of lime, and serve

Between the sheets

1 fluid oz brandy

1 fluid oz rum

1 fluid oz cointreau

Juice ½ lemon

2-3 cracked ice cubes

Put ice in shaker. Add rest of ingredients Shake to mix serve


Brandy Alexander

1 ½ fluid oz brandy

¾ fluid oz creme de cacao i.e. Tia Maria

½ fluid oz double cream

2-3 cracked ice cubes

Put ice into shaker. Add rest of ingredients Shake to mix pour into glass and serve


Brandy cocktail

1 ½ fluid oz brandy

½ fluid oz curacao

1 teaspoon bar syrup

2-3 ice cubes

Measure all into mixing glass add ice strain into glass add twist of lemon peel and serve


Brandy egg sour

1 ½ fluid oz brandy

1 fluid oz curacao

1 egg

1 teaspoon icing sugar

2 dashes lemon juice

2 ice cubes

Put ice into shaker add rest of ingredients and shake vigorously to mix strain into glass and serve

B and B

1 ½ fluid oz brandy

1 ½ fluid oz of Benedictine

Crushed ice

Put ice into glass add brandy and Benedictine stir and serve

Creole punch

3 fluid oz port

¾ fluid oz brandy

2 teaspoons lemon juice

Lemonade

4-5 crushed ice cubes

1 slice lemon, 1 slice orange, pineapple chunk, cocktail cherry

Put half the ice into shaker. Add port, brandy and lemon juice shake to mix. Put remaining ice into glass, pour cocktail over. Top up with lemonade decorate with fruit and serve

Coffee cocktail

1 fluid oz brandy

1 fluid oz port

1 teaspoon sugar

1 egg yolk

2-3 cracked ice cubes

Pour brandy and port into mixing glass. Add ice then drop egg and sugar on top put on metal lid and shake well pour into glass and serve

Corpse reviver

1 ½ fluid oz brandy

¾ fluid oz Calvados

¾ fluid oz sweet vermouth

2-3 ice cubes

Put ice into shaker add rest add ingredients. Shake to mix, strain into glass and serve


Frenchman

1 ½ fluid oz brandy

¾ fluid oz green Chartreuse

Juice of 1 small lemon

3 cracked ice cubes

Put ice into shaker add rest of ingredients. Shake to mix pour into glass and serve


Harvard cooler

1 ½ fluid oz Calvados

1 ½ fluid oz unsweetened orange juice

1 teaspoon powdered sugar

Ginger ale

3 pieces preserved ginger

1 slice of orange

1 spiral of lemon peel

3 crushed ice cubes

Put the ice cubes into shaker and add the Calvados, orange juice and sugar. Shake to mix. Strain into glass top up with ginger ale. Drape lemon peel over rim twist the orange slice and place on cocktail stick with ginger, and serve

Jack rose

1 ½ fluid oz applejack

Juice ½ lemon

2 dashes grenadine

2 ice cubes

Put ice into shaker add rest of ingredients. Shake to mix pour into glass and serve


Klondike

1 ½ fluid oz Cavados

1 fluid oz dry vermouth

2 dashes angostura bitter

2 cracked ice cubes

Put ice into shaker. Add rest of ingredients shake to mix. Strain into glass and serve

Leo

1 ½ fluid oz brandy

2 ¼ fluid oz unsweetened orange juice

¾ fluid oz Amaretto di Saronno

1 teaspoon campari

Soda water

3 crushed ice cubes

Put ice into shaker add brandy, orange juice and Amaretto. Shake then strain into glass add Soda water and Campari. Serve

Royal wedding

1 ½ fluid oz brandy

¾ fluid oz peach brandy

¾ kirsch

2-3 cracked ice cubes

3 fluid oz unsweetened orange juice

Soda water

Peach slice, orange slice, cocktail cherries

Put ice into shaker add brandy, peach brandy, kirsch and orange juice. Shake to mix pour into glass top up with Soda water decorate with fruit and serve

Scorpion

1 ½ fluid oz brandy

¾ fluid oz white rum

¾ fluid oz dark rum

3 fluid oz unsweetened orange juice

2 teaspoons Amaretto di soronno

3 dashes angostura bitter

4-5 crushed ice cubes

1 slice orange

1 slice lemon

Put half the ice into shaker add the brandy, white and dark rum orange juice, Ameretto and bitters. Shake to mix. Put remaining ice into glass and strain the cocktail over it. Decorate with orange and lemon slices serve with straw

Shanghai

1 ½ fluid oz brandy

¾ fluid oz curacao

3 teaspoons maraschino

2 dashes angostura bitters

Piece of lemon peel

1 cocktail cherry

3 crushed ice cubes

Put ice cubes into glass, and add the brandy, curacao, maraschino, and bitters. Shake to mix. Strain into glass decorate with peel and cherry on cocktail stick serve

Sidecar

1 fluid oz brandy

1 fluid oz Cointreau

1 fluid oz lemon juice

2-3 ice cubes

Put ice into shaker add brandy, cointreau, and lemon juice. Shake to mix pour into glass and serve

Star cocktail

1 ½ fluid oz applejack

1 ½ fluid oz sweet vermouth

2-3 ice cubes

Put ice cubes into mixing glass add applejack and vermouth stir pour into glass and serve

Stinger

2 fluid oz brandy

1 fluid oz crème de menthe

2 ice cubes

Put ice into shake add brandy and crème de menthe shake to mix. Pour into glass and serve.
