Connor was born on January 19th. He was born 3 weeks early. We went in to get an amnio to see if his lungs were developed. I had already been having contractions before that (nothing intense) and he was soo large I was afraid that I would go into labor and not get to the hospital on time. I knew that I was going to have him by c-section, so it was just a matter of when to schedule it for. When I went to my ob apt right after the amnio the doctor said that I was 3cm dilated and was contracting pretty regularly. They sent me to the hospital and admitted me. They waited until we got the results back from the amnio and it showed that his lungs were developed so we had him that night at 8:42pm. He was 8lb 4 oz at birth and 20 inches long. Definately not your average premie! It was a much less scary experience than my first. He came out crying and pink, unlike my daughter who was born July 19th 2004. She came out blue, not breathing. They helped her breathe and she recovered, but it was definately scary. I had a short ambilical cord that was also wrapped 2x around her neck so every time I tried to push her out it was choking her. Not to mention they had me on so much meds I couldn't keep my eyes open. I would fall asleep and then wake up and ask my husband why she wasn't crying yet. Then fall asleep and do the same thing all over again. The hospital that I had Connor in was about 2 1/2 hours away. It was the only hospital with a neonatal intensive care unit. Because of Taylor's scary birth and all of the heart defects we found she had I wanted to make sure that I had Connor in a hospital that would be equipt to handle any problems without having to seperate me from my child. Both of my children are growing wonderfully and developing cognitively ahead of schedule or right on time.

Wow, how scary! My second is also a January baby, born on Jan 27th this year. She was 2 weeks early due to an elective c/s because I had problems with Dylan's birth, and turned out to be a tiny tot ...only 5 pounds 13. She's 6 months old now and still not even reached 6kg.

aw. how cute. My first baby was a thin long baby... Connor is just a big boy all around! He started crawling this week.
